The Verdict on Holland Street
The Traffic Commission will host a special virtual meeting this Thursday at 5:30 p.m. to review public comments and deliberate on the City’s new Draft Safety Plan for Holland Street.
The plan would add protected bike lanes from Teele Square to Davis Square and restrict parking on the south side of the street. Off-street parking resources in the neighborhood would be increased. On side streets, the City has already added some parking meters and loading zones, and staff are working on additional proposals for options of this type.
This week’s meeting follows the special Traffic Commission meeting held on Sept. 21, where the Mayor and City staff presented the draft plan and Traffic Commissioners heard public comment. The recording and presentation slides are available on the project’s website.
Written testimony will continue to be accepted until 4 p.m. on Thursday. Comments can be sent by email to trafficcommission@somervillema.gov (please cc: transportation@somervillema.gov), or mailed to: Parking Department, Attn: Traffic Commission, 133 Holland St., Somerville, MA 02144.

The Latest on 90 Washington St.
This Thursday, Mayor Katjana Ballantyne and City staff will host the next community meeting to discuss 90 Washington St., a four-acre site near the East Somerville Green Line station envisioned as the home of a new Public Safety Building and a range of civic, commercial, and residential spaces. This meeting will summarize the feedback received over the last nine months and outline how the City will move forward with the redevelopment of the property into the future home of the Public Safety Building and other uses.
The meeting will take place Thursday, Oct. 6, from 6-7:30 p.m. at the East Somerville Community School, 50 Cross St. and will also be livestreamed on YouTube.
The meeting will be held in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. Interpretation into Haitian Kreyol or Nepali may be available upon advance request by contacting the SomerViva Office of Immigrant Affairs at somerviva@somervillema.gov or by calling 311 (617-666-3311). Individuals with disabilities who need auxiliary aids and services for effective communication, written materials in alternative formats, or reasonable modifications in policies and procedures should contact the City’s ADA Coordinator, Adrienne Pomeroy, at 617-625-6600 x2250 or apomeroy@somervillema.gov.
SCC Organizes Job Fair

Somerville Community Corporation wants to help connect you with employers in Somerville and surrounding areas. The SCC will host a job fair next Thursday, Oct. 13, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Center for Arts at the Armory, 191 Highland Ave.
Some of the companies attending the job fair include: MassHire Metro North Career Centers, Cambridge, Chelsea and Woburn, Boston Public Schools, Per Scholas, City of Somerville, Amazon, RESPOND, Inc., Asian American Civic Association, Northeast Security, The Royal Sonesta Boston, Museum of Science, Beth Israel Lahey Health, Cataldo Ambulance Service, Inc, Midtown Home Health Services, Inc, Saunders Hotel Group, Connected Home Care, and Brightview Landscaping.
