City-Wide Weed-Pulling Event

Environmental advocacy group, Green & Open Somerville, is holding a city-wide weed-pulling event on Saturday, July 8th, 10am-noon. The group is looking for team captains, people who will help organize hyper-locally, identify overgrown sites and recruit neighbors to join and coordinate supplies.

Email greenopensomerville@gmail.com to sign up.

CAAS is Hiring

CAAS Community Organizing is now recruiting for two new positions to grow its team! The advocacy group is hiring a bilingual Senior Tenant Organizer and a bilingual Tenant Organizer, who will be supervised by the more senior position. These two roles are funded by Somerville American Rescue Plan Act grants, and will be critical to deepening our anti-displacement tenant advocacy and organizing over the next year.

CAAS is eager to meet candidates who have experience in tenant organizing, advocacy or related human services, are passionate about resident empowerment, and are ready to make a lasting impact against gentrification and displacement in our city. Like all the staff in its program, these are bilingual positions to meet the needs of Somerville tenants; key languages include Spanish, Portuguese, Haitian Creole, Nepali, and Mandarin or Cantonese Chinese. For best consideration, candidates should send their cover letter and resume to CAAS HR Manager Michelle Shipp no later than Friday, June 23 at 5:00 p.m.

CAAS is also hiring for a Development Manager, a Receptionist, and a variety of roles in our Head Start early education program, all listed on our careers page: https://www.caasomerville.org/careers.
